We warmed up by completing an LA Freeway around the track. Then I introduced our theme which was a throwback to my high school days where I competed as a Rhythmic Gymnast, and we listened to 90s Pop music.
I led them in some stretching and explained the Thang which included a Tabata of 45 seconds with 15 seconds of rest to spell out some creatively named exercises to form:
R – Rosalina
H – Hip Dips
Y – RaggedY Anns
T – Triceps Dips
H – Hallelujahs
M – Mountain Climber Push Ups
I – Inch Worms
C – Calf Raises
G – Girly Lunge with Leg Lift
Y – DollY
M – Monkey Humpers
N – Narwhals
A – Alternating Shoulder Taps
S – Sparky Crabs
T – Russian Twist
I – Imperial Squat Walker
C – Crunchy Frog
S – Superman
We ran the pickle in between the two words and took a break in between every few exercises to form 2 teams to do some tricks with the different apparatus as a relay. With the Ribbon, we grapevine sideways while moving the ribbon in our choice of spirals, snakes, or circles and back. The rest of us did push ups while waiting. For the clubs, we ran to the clubs, picked them up, flipped them and tried to catch one in each hand and ran back. The rest did reverse lunges while waiting for our turn. Lastly, we NUR while rolling the ball with our arms together straight in front of us from our shoulders to our hands. The rest of us held our choice of a plank or reverse plank.
We ended with an active COT by each of us taking a Rhythmic Gymnastics item to explore.
