Warm up

Cones/Squats/Curls: We all got in a circle and did a deep squat while also doing dumbell curls; one by one, each lady would leave the circle and run to touch all of the cones that were strategically placed outside our circle. When the first lady got back, she’d resume the workout and the next lady would go. We did some modifications like overhead raises, cross-body curls, etc. just to switch it up.

Plank Challenge: For the entirety of a song (about 4 minutes) we held a plank and did plank-based exercises throughout the song; those included plank jacks, knee-to-elbow raises, forearm planks, bear crawl planks with toe taps, etc.

We grabbed our weights and walked the pickle with purpose as I explained each station of the obstacle course.

Obstacle Course: I arrived early and drew a fun obstacle course with sidewalk chalk; it went around the pickle and included: hopscotch, long jumps, spell FiA Carpex (bubbles with letters that you hop on to spell a word), tricep dips, lunges, fast feet, ski jumps, and running hallelujahs. We did a staggered start and ran through the course two times.

We grabbed our weights again and walked with purpose around the pickle to get to know our FNG.

Cup Challenge: From our circle, we each picked an exercise out of the cup one by one, and did whatever was on the piece of paper. They were basic exercises like LBC’s, burpees, jumping jacks, kickbacks, rows, etc…there were 12 or 13 exercises in all.

Dance Break: We did the Cha Cha Slide with our weights and also tried to move our bodies a little more purposefully during the songs, like doing squated slide and weighed cha chas.

Cool Down

COT: I’m grateful for my struggle because without it, I wouldn’t have stumbled upon my strength. I’m thankful everyday for the strength I get from these ladies! They are all so encouraging.

Name-O-Rama (we named our FNG: Emma is now Snoopy)
